Arsenal and Fiorentina are in talks over €15m permanent deal for Lucas Torreira at the end of his loan this summer, with Fiorentina are aiming for a possible discount on a permanent transfer for Torreira according to reports.
The midfielder quickly ran out of favour under Mikel Arteta when the manager first joined the club and he was shipped out on loan to Atletico Madrid last season before he later joined Fiorentina this season.
Torreira, 26, joined the Italian side on loan from Arsenal last summer with buy option for around £13million included in the deal and has become a key figure in their midfield this season.
As newspaper Corriere Dello Sport writes about a few Fiorentina players today, they claim that to secure Torreira’s permanent transfer from Arsenal, the ‘parties have already begun to meet’ with Chris Wheatley also reports that Lucas Torreira is set to join Fiorentina permanently this summer as Arsenal and Fiorentina in talks over a deal.
This latest update follows Torreira himself confirming that his agent was in contact with Fiorentina over his next steps. It appears that’s now progressed to club-to-club talks.
“My agent met with the Fiorentina people last week,” Torreira said.
“I’m very happy in Florence because I can feel the trust of the club and the manager.
“Today I belong to Arsenal, and I need to evaluate many things, but I’m very happy here.
Now at La Viola, where he has ended up being an important player, there’s no doubt the club will try to keep him for longer, and it seems the talks with the Gunners are happening but with Fiorentina hopeful the Gunners will give them a discount, but it is a deal that should happen.
Torreira has made 24 appearances in all competitions for La Viola and recently scored in the 1-1 draw against Inter Milan – the same game in which he lost a tooth.
