The money for next season’s Champions League is worth around £50m in prize money and broadcasting revenue with a portion of this paid out to the players on a pro-rata basis if they make it into the tournament.

The Daily Mail also claim that some Arsenal players have clauses written in their deals that could see their weekly wages increase automatically once the club return to the Champions League.

The Gunners are aiming to finish in the top four to help take their place amongst Europe’s elite and help accelerate Arteta’s efforts to restore Arsenal to former glories.

It will also improve Arsenal’s hopes of keeping young star Bukayo Saka as they aim to secure the England winger on a new contract befitting his status as one of their most important players and also increase their transfer budget and appeal to potential targets.

Rio Ferdinand nominates Chelsea 22-year old star for Premier young player of the season ahead of Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.

Speaking after West Ham on climbing back into the top four, Arteta said: “You have to find a way to win and today we won ugly. We have to recognise that is the way we had done it,” before adding: “Let’s see [if the battle for top-four will go all the way]. Another seven days to prepare for the match. The pressure is there and we both won so let’s go.”

Arsenal host Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium for their 35th game of the Premier League season on Sunday and could be one of the defining moments of the entire campaign if all goes to plan.
