West Ham are already having to cope without Angelo Ogbonna, Kurt Zouma and Issa Diop due to injury, with all three centre-backs set to miss the rest of the season.
Many assumed it would be three matches for a straight red. But a professional foul is punished with a one game suspension only- that means Dawson will miss next Sunday’s home game against Arsenal.
Dawson will now serve a one-match Premier League suspension, meaning the Hammers will have no senior centre-back options available for their next league game against Arsenal at the London Stadium.
Arsenal face a trip to London rivals West Ham in the Premier League next Sunday, after leapfroging Tottenham into fourth and create a six-point gap to United – who have played a game more.
