
On-loan Arsenal defender William Saliba has been nominated for Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year following his impressive form with Marseille.

The 21-year-old has made 49 appearances for Marseille this season, helping them to second in the Ligue 1 standings and the Europa Conference League semi-final – the second leg of which he’ll play on Thursday.
He will compete with Arnaud Kalimuendo of Lens, Castello Lukeba of Lyon, Nuno Mendes of PSG, and Khéphren Thuram of Nice for the final prize.

Saliba recently hinted that he could stay in Marseille next season having yet to make an impact at Arsenal.
“There is always a chance,” he told Le Parisien. “I do not hide that I am very happy in Marseille. I have developed, I have passed a milestone. If I make it into France’s squad it’s thanks to Marseille, because there is a lot of visibility
Saliba was bought by Arsenal three years ago for a fee in the region of £25million but is yet to play a competitive match for the Gunners despite being highly rated by the club’s fans
