Cristian Romero has claimed his injury-hit first season at Tottenham can be put down to missing pre-season ahead of moving to North London last summer.
Cristian Romero: “Reason of my injuries? In my whole career i had no injuries, and this season i had three. I think reason for that, is that, i don’t had preseason last summer. So now, i will do everything to have the best preseason this summer.” @estebanedul 🚑 pic.twitter.com/LMqPg2GTA1

The Argentine defender joined Spurs from Atalanta and quickly established himself as a key player in Antonio Conte’s three-man defence adding quality needed in the defensive line.
But, Romero couldn’t make the most of his first season due to three separate injuries, which limited him to just 22 Premier League appearances for Tottenham Hotspur.
And even though he returned to contention for the majority of 2022, the 24-year-old was then out for the Tottenham final three run-in with a hip issues and has revealed that the lack of pre-season training over the summer has played a major role in his injury problem.
He told ESPN (as translated by AlbicelesteTalk): “Reason of my injuries? In my whole career I had no injuries, and this season I had three. I think the reason for that is that I didn’t have a pre-season last summer. So now, I will do everything to have the best pre-season this summer.”
Tottenham will make a move to permanent Cristian Romero deal ‘soon’ according to Italian journalist Romano Fabrizio.
“Cristian Romero, the buy obligation clause will be activated very soon,” revealed Romano.
“He’s 100 percent a Tottenham player for £40million.
“Congrats to Tottenham, because it was a huge signing. Really smart and interesting one.”
