Kulusevski has quickly made his mark in north London with two goals and four assists from nine Premier League appearances and Tottenham will be looking to strike another deal with Juventus as they have two clauses to buy Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus as part of their loan deal for the midfielder.

  • If Kulusevski starts 15 or more Premier League and Tottenham finish in the top four, it will trigger a clause worth €35m that will be added on to the €10m already spent;
  • And Spurs could save themselves some cash if they fork out the €30m fee necessary to make the deal permanent this summer.

Spurs paid €10m (£8.3m) in January to borrow Kulusevski until June 2023, and are due to pay the Sweden international’s wages in full over that season and a half. But there is an option to turn the move into a permanent transfer this summer for €30m.

The option will remain valid the following summer unless the second clause – a €35m mandatory buy clause – comes into play.

That will be activated at the end of the 2022-23 season if two conditions are met during the campaign: that Kulusevski plays in 50% of the team’s Premier League matches for at least 45 minutes, and Spurs qualify for the Champions League.

Paratici, in his previous job, had brought Kulusevski to Juventus from Atalanta in 2020 for €35m plus €9m in add-ons and felt sure the player would thrive in the Premier League.

“We know, me and Antonio Conte, we know these players very well because I was in Juve before and Antonio was in Italy, so he knows very well the players,” Paratici on Dejan and Bentancur.

“We know that the character and mentality and the style of these kind of players would be right for us.

“Normally some players need time to adapt, to adapt to the Premier League, to England, whatever, so for Rodrigo and Deki it was really, really quick.”

Tottenham could end up forking out €40 for Dejan Kulusevski in the summer if certain clauses are met.

The former Atalanta star can perform across the front three as well as in midfield and has high potential after hitting the ground very quickly at N17.
