Man Utd 3-0 Brentford: Fernandes, Ronaldo & Varane stun ‘The Bees’ as Matic receives standing ovation.

Manchester United recorded the biggest win of Ralf Rangnick’s interim reign in his final home match as goals from Fernandes, Ronaldo and Varane gave Manchester United 3-0 victory over Brentford at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring before Cristiano Ronaldo second-half penalty doubled the hosts lead after he had a goal disallowed due to offside and Varane’s first United goal gave Ralf Rangnick his biggest win as Manchester United’s interim manager.

However, Veteran midfielder Nemanja Matic make his final appearance for Manchester United at Old Trafford and was received with standing ovation when he was substituted for Fred.

The former Serbia international announced earlier this year that he will be leaving the Red Devils once the current campaign comes to an end.

Speaking after Thursday’s Premier League match at Old Trafford against rivals Chelsea, Matic, who also spent eight years with the Blues, said: “For me, it was a pleasure, an honour to play at Old Trafford for five years.

“[…] Three more games to play and United will stay forever in my heart, together with Chelsea because I also played for Chelsea.”

Since joining from Chelsea back in 2017, Matic has gone on to feature in 186 matches, in all competitions, and contributing to 14 goals along the way.

The result keeps alive United’s slender hopes of Champions League qualification at least until next weekend.
