It’s been another rollercoaster season at Stamford Bridge both on and off the pitch, but the rise of James into becoming an even better player has to be one of the standouts.

Despite being restricted to just just 22 Premier League appearances this season due to injury, Recce James has certainly made them count with five goals and six assists so far.

“I’m going to go Reece James [for Premier League young player of the season]. I just think the importance that he has in this team, when he doesn’t play in that team now they miss him massively. He has a massive impact in that team,” Ferdinand said.

“I watched him at Old Trafford the other day… he was treating some Man United players like boys. That’s how good he is, how comfortable he looks now.

“I’ve seen him on loan at Wigan playing centre-back, playing in midfield. He’s so versatile. His passing range is off the charts.

“Just his all-round general play, the composure, the physicality, his defending one-v-one. I think he’s got everything.”

Recce James faces competitions from his on-loan teammate Conor Gallagher who has caught an eye with Crystal Palace this season, scoring eight goals and with three assists.
And also Arsenal sensational prodigy Bukayo Saka who has been driving force for a resurgent Arsenal side, scoring eleven goals and with six assists.

Whilst Manchester City Phil Foden, who won the award last season is also in contention and will be looking to become the first player since Dele Alli to claim consecutive Young Player of the Year awards.
