Tottenham defender Ben Davies withdraws from Wales squad and is being ruled out for friendly against Czech Republic.
Davies played 90 minutes on Thursday as Wales beat Austria 2-1 at the Cardiff City Stadium in their World Cup play-off semi-final but has now returned to Tottenham.
Wales did not specify whether the 28-year-old was injured or had come down with an illness when they released a short statement on Sunday which has caused an utmost concern among the Tottenham fans.
The statement reads as follow: “Following Thursday’s match, Ben Davies has returned to his club. All other players are available for Tuesday’s match.”
Antonio Conte has made the left-back one of his first-choices in his five-man defensive system, moving the player to a more central position.
Davies featured for 90 minutes in Thursday’s 2-1 win over Austria and will sit out the friendly against Czech Republic with their World Cup play-off final to be played in June.
They will take on either Scotland or Ukraine, whose play-off semi-final was postponed due to Russia’s invasion of the latter nation.
Davies’ Tottenham side next play Newcastle United at home on April 3, before then taking on Aston Villa on April 9.
