Youri Tielemans  has turned down  a new contract at Leicester leaving Manchester United, and Arsenal on alert ahead of a potential summer bidding for the Belgian.

I’ve been told Youri Tielemans will NOT extend his contract with Leicester. New deal bid has been turned down – current one expires in 2023. 🔵 #LCFC

Tielemans, 24, has spent the last two-and-a-half years with the Foxes after completing a £40million move from Monaco, registering 23 goals and 22 assists in 135 appearances for the Foxes.

The former Anderlecht and Monaco star has established himself as one the finest midfielders in the Premiership helping Leicester keep pace in the race for Champions League qualification in his first two seasons at the club.

He also scored the winning goal in last year’s FA Cup final, firing a sensational long-range effort home to secure a 1-0 win over eventual European champions Chelsea.

With less than 18 months to run on his current deal, the Foxes would like to sell him during the summer transfer window instead of leaving for free.

Speaking after the Westham’s match Leicester manager Rodgers said :

Tielemans? You’ll get people asking if we can hang on to these players for the next 6 years but the reality is that if a player does really well at Leicester, he may want to leave” 🔵 #LCFC

According to reports, Leicester City have reduced their asking price for Youri Tielemans from £60m to £35m, with Arsenal and Manchester United in the race to sign the Belgium midfielder this summer. (Het Nieuwsblad, via Metro)

United desperately need to strengthen their midfield this summer, especially given Paul Pogba looks set to depart Old Trafford on a free transfer in July.

If Pogba leaves in the summer, it will further resulted into the Red Devils short of options in the middle of the park, with Scott McTominay, Fred and Nemanja Matic their only natural central midfielders.

while Arsenal also have their eye on a new midfield recruit after Arthur Melo’s failed January transfer and potential Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny departure in the summer.

In Tielemans, all these teams would be adding a talented young player with sufficient Premier League experience to their ranks.
