Bissouma has made eight Premier League starts so far this season, despite being behind Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the midfield pecking order.

A tweet from Spurs read: “We can confirm that Yves Bissouma is to undergo surgery on Friday to repair a stress fracture to his left ankle. “A timeframe for his return will be determined after surgery. He will begin rehabilitation with our medical staff as soon as possible. Get well soon, Yves.”

Antonio Conte will be incredibly frustrated by the Bissouma’s news, it  comes ahead of a crucial run of fixtures for Spurs. Tottenham travel to face AC Milan next week in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash, with derbies against Chelsea and West Ham and an FA Cup match against Sheffield United in between those two games.
