Gil joined Spurs in £21.6million move from Sevilla during the summer of 2021 and there were high hopes the then-20-year-old could go on to be a huge success at the club.
Unfortunately for the winger the opposite has transpired, and the player has struggled for game time under both Nuno Espirito Santo and now Antonio Conte. He has made just 20 appearances for the Lilywhites, contributing only one assist, and spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia.
Bryan Gil has been heavily linked with a loan move to Valencia all summer. The Spanish club’s manager, Gennaro Gattuso, even claimed that a deal was ’99 per cent’ done, and they were just waiting for Spurs to find a replacement.
However, according to the Spanish journalist Domingo Ortiz, Spurs blocked the winger’s move to the La Liga club since they were not been able to secure a replacement.

The Times journalist Tom Allnutt subsequently revealed Gennaro Gattuso’s side are not happy with Spurs’ U-turn as the North London club had previously told Los Che that the 21-year-old would be allowed to leave
Following reports of the player’s loan deal to Valencia collapsing, Bryan Gil took to social media and posted a cryptic message in Spanish on his Instagram Stories. It read:
“Sometimes an old photo makes us value moments where we were happier and didn’t realise.”

Clearly disappointed that his move to Valencia has fallen through, Gil will be hoping time on the pitch comes his way over the next few months with Tottenham in Premier League and Champions League action. However, that is not going to be easy at all for him with Conte having a wealth of attacking options at his disposal – which has only strengthened this summer
