Arsenal have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans as the Foxes eye former Arsenal target Houssem Aouar as a replacement for the Belgium international.
The Lyon playmaker has just a year remaining on his deal at the Groupama Stadium and has attracted interest from a number of European clubs, including the Foxes and Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest.
Houssem Aouar boasted 10 goal contributions in 35 Ligue 1 outings for Lyon last term as Peter Bosz’s side finished in eighth spot to miss out on European football.
The Frenchman has been linked with the Gunners in previous windows, but it is believed that manager Mikel Arteta has shifted his sights to Tielamans.
Arsenal receive Youri Tielemans transfer boost.
Arsenal remain keen on adding to their midfield options this summer and Leicester’s Youri Tielemans is the favourite to be the next one to join Mikel Arteta’s ranks before the transfer window slams shut.
The Leicester midfielder has less than 12 months left on his contract at the King Power Stadium. And while the Foxes are keen to avoid losing the 25-year-old for free next summer, they are holding out for their £30million asking price.
And The Belgian’s pathway to the Emirates has been cleared after Foot Mercato reported that Leicester are keen on a move for Aouar.
The Gunners have been busy in the summer window – signing Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieria. The latter pair are both able to slot in to the Gunners’ engine room, but Arteta remains eager to bring Tielemans to north London.
