
Arsenal are interested in signing Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz for £16m , according to recent reports.
The Gunners are in need of a top-class centre-midfielder this summer after failing to bring in new additions during the January transfer window.
Also with Mohamed Elneny is into the final five months of his contract at the Emirates Stadium whilst Granit Xhaka continues to be linked with a move away from the club, Arsenal have held talks with Fabian Ruiz over a potential move to the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.
Ruiz has been a key figure in Napoli’s Serie A title push this season but will have just a year remaining on his contract this summer after rejecting the chance to sign a new deal with the club.
Napoli therefore aware of the situation is poised to either sell him for a decent sum of money as low as £16 or risk losing him on a free transfer which Laurentiis would not want it to happen.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal have already held initial talks with Ruiz’s representatives to discuss a potential move to the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.
The report claims that Arteta is ‘a big fan’ of Ruiz and believes the midfielder would improve his squad.
Fabian Ruiz joined Napoli from Real Betis for £25m in July 2018 and has since established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A, making 153 appearances for the club, scoring 20 times and assisting his team-mates on 14 occasions according to transfermarkt
At the same time, the player has also established a foothold in the Spanish national side, becoming a key figure for Luis Enrique
