The Argentine superstar will have to wait a bit longer for his debut with the French giants as he continues to build up his fitness.
Messi, 34, is yet to make his debut for PSG since joining the French side earlier this month from Barcelona.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner has not played a game since winning the Copa America with Argentina but has been in full training with PSG.
The Argentina international will be joined on the sidelines by Neymar, who has also been left out of the Ligue 1 game.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner will almost certainly be ready to play part in the fixture against Reims on August 29th.
PSG’s full squad for the match is: (Goalkeepers) Navas, Donnarumma, Franchi; (Defenders) Hakimi, Kimpembe, Marquinhos, Diallo, Kehrer, Bitshiabu; (Midfielders) Bitumazala, Verratti, Danilo, Herrera, Wijnaldum, Rafinha, Dina Ebimbe, Gharbi, Draxler; (Forwards); Di Maria, Mbappe, Icardi, Kalimuendo.
However, the introduction of Angel Di Maria, Marco Verratti, Marquinhos and Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma will serve as a massive boost to the squad that defeated Strasbourg in 4-2 victory last weekend.
A win will send PSG three points clear at the top of the table with Pochettino seeking for his first Parc des Princes silverware as PSG head coach, and to bring the trophy back to PSG following their surprise loss in last season’s title race to Lille.
